Royal Television Society West of England Awards 2016 – Best Composer Nomination

Return of the Giant Killers: Africa's Lion Kings (BBC Natural World) from William Goodchild Music on Vimeo.

We are very pleased to announce that William Goodchild’s score for Return of the Giant Killers: Africa’s Lion Kings has been nominated for a Royal Television Society West of England Award. William is nominated in the category of Best Composition of Original Music for a non-scripted show.

The score demonstrates William’s sensitivity and deep understanding of the needs of the film; working seamlessly alongside the narration and stunning visuals. Icon Films entrusted William to score the final harrowing showdown, removing all narration for four minutes – practically unheard of in this particular genre of production. William’s score patiently builds the tension to palpable levels whilst remaining sympathetic to the visuals and the desperation of all the animals involved. This visually stunning programme has also received a Best Cinematography nomination for Brad Bestelink and Richard Uren.

Icon Films and the NHFU Botswana are nominated in the Best Natural History Programme category for Natural World: Africa’s Fishing Leopards. This production was scored by William and Dan Brown.
